Product Overview: 2638A All-in-One Data Collector
Industrial-accurate thermocouple measurement capability
Because the 2638A incorporates Fluke's Universal Input Junction Box, the accuracy of thermocouple measurements is better than most instruments in its class. This universal input junction box supports 15 common types of thermocouples. The menu selection of temperature functions makes the 2638A particularly well suited for temperature calibration applications. If you need to "zero" multiple thermocouples to a known reference temperature, e.g., to normalize cold-end temperature compensation, before starting temperature measurement and calibration, simply press a key to save the reference channel reading as a bias in a supported data file, and then align the other channels to the reference channel. to the reference channel. If you're testing an oven, testing a heater to AMS guidelines, or calibrating a temperature device to 21CFR, the 2638A can help you meet your specifications with ease.
Universal Input Junction Box
The Universal Input Junction Box, together with the relay board built into the slot, forms 22 analog input channels. The junction box is factory calibrated for CJC (Cold Junction Temperature Compensation) and the CJC calibration data is stored in the ID chip of the junction box along with the serial number, which is automatically read each time the junction box is plugged in. This information is also saved in its data file and setup file for later review. This feature is valuable for industries that are subject to controls, such as food, pharmaceuticals, etc., to ensure that your equipment and data are traceable.
Wiring and setting up a 20- to 60-channel data acquisition system can take quite a bit of time each time. But with the inexpensive Fluke Universal Junction Box, you only have to wire and set up once. If you want to use the 2638A for a different project, just quickly unplug the box and plug it into another pre-wired box without removing the wires from the box.
Other manufacturers' data collectors require wiring directly to a very expensive "plug-in" active signal conditioning module and setting up the channels on the instrument. If you were to go to another location to do another test, you would have to remove all the wires from this module and rewire and reset it, or rewire and reset it with another expensive module. With the 2638A, all signal conditioning is in the mainframe, not in the junction box.
The use of multiple low-cost universal input junction boxes gives you the flexibility to keep a wired junction box at the test site, ready for use at a moment's notice. When you need data from the field, simply "plug in" the junction box, call up the saved setup file, and you're ready to test.
Channel scalability
The 2638A has three slots on the rear panel. Each slot consists of a replaceable relay board and a pluggable input junction box. Three configuration options are available for each mainframe-22/44/66 channels. If funds are limited, choose the 22-channel model first and gradually expand the channels later to match your budget.
Color display, Chinese menu
The large, color TFD display makes the 2638A easy to understand and simple to operate. The main function keys with backlight prompts help you to quickly recognize the current state of the instrument's operating options. An illuminated background light on the "Record" key indicates that the 2638A is recording data in scanning, monitoring, or digital multi-meter mode. Thus, the status of the data logging is visible.
The copy-paste function can turn repetitive channel settings into a simple task. The top menu bar gives you a clear overview of the current setup steps.
Data can be viewed by pressing a single button. You can page through the data and alarms for all channels in Quick View mode, or view the respective statistics channel by channel, including rate of change, minimum value, maximum value, standard deviation, average value, sample size and peak value.
Real-time curve plotting and historical data viewing
The 2638A can plot four channels of real-time curves simultaneously. The curves can be displayed on an optimal scale or zoomed in and out to see details or trends. History mode also allows you to view previously collected data... Curve plotting can be accomplished without the need for a PC or other software.
Multi-language support
The instrument menu supports 9 languages (including Chinese), which can be selected in the instrument setup.
screenshot function
By pressing a single key on the front panel, you can take a screenshot of what is on the 2638A screen and save it to a USB flash drive in .jpg format. The screenshot information can be used for reports, document filing, or more detailed viewing.
Alarm function
Two alarm limits can be set for each channel: high/high, high/low, or low/low. the 2638A compares to the set alarm limits on each scan, and out-of-range alarm statuses are reported on the display and in the data file. You can also assign any of the alarms to any of the six TTL alarm outputs.
numerical channel
Each channel features Mx+B scale transformation. In addition, each 2638A mainframe can be set up with 20 virtual math channels with alarm settings, allowing more complex calculations such as averages, deviations, polynomials, logarithms, exponents, powers, etc. to be applied to each scan and the results saved. The data from each channel can be used as a variable for another math channel calculation.
Digital Multimeter Mode
The 2638A is based on a 6.5-bit (22-bit A/D) precision digital multi-meter with unique measurement accuracy and resolution - so you can use the 2638A not only as a multi-channel data collector, but also as a precision digital multi-meter. The front-panel "digital multi-meter" style input jacks and dedicated DMM buttons allow you to conveniently measure AC and DC voltages, AC and DC currents, resistances, frequencies and temperatures (thermocouples, platinum resistors, thermistors). Data measured by the DMM can also be logged to a separate data file for later review. 2638A also displays measurement statistics and graphs directly on the DMM's main display.
memory (unit)
The 2638A has 20MB of memory for 75,000 scans and 1,000 setup files. In addition, a USB flash drive interface supports even greater storage capacity. You can copy data or setting files from the instrument's memory to a USB flash drive and transfer them to a PC. Setup files can also be copied to the instrument memory via the USB flash drive.
memory management
The memory button on the front panel allows you to quickly open the menu to manage data files and setup files. If you want to retrieve a previously stored setup file, you can select the corresponding file directly from the memory or from a USB flash drive and start running immediately. You can also easily transfer data from the instrument's memory to a USB flash drive and analyze the data on a PC, or copy the setup files to another 2638A in this way. 2638A can access the test data without connecting to a PC.
To protect test data in the event of a power failure, the 2638A has a menu option to continue to start scanning tests at the original settings after power is restored. This is a form of data protection for the 2638A.
Flexible triggering and resolving power options
In the Test Setup menu you have several options for starting a scan to choose from:
- external trigger
- Remote SCPI Commands
- Alarm Trigger
- interval trigger
- Front Panel Manual Trigger
You can select three scanning speeds, fast, medium, and slow, to select the corresponding test resolution (4.5 bit, 5.5 bit, and 6.5 bit) according to your needs. You can also select the measurement speed for individual channels to get the accuracy and resolution you need.
accumulator (computing)
The input for the totalizer is located on the back panel of the instrument. It provides a simple and convenient counting function that is stored in each scan file. The counting function can total up to 1,048,575 and can be reset manually or remotely from the front panel.
Channel statistics function
Measurement statistics for each channel can be viewed at any time. In scanning, monitoring or digital multi-meter mode, you can choose to view rate of change (per minute or per second), standard deviation, minimum, maximum, peak to peak and average values with a simple keystroke.
newsletter
The instrument provides USB (virtual serial port) and LAN interfaces for easy connection to a network or PC. You can use Fluke DAQ application software to develop your own programs using standard SCPI commands, or use the Lab View driver, or use software such as Indusoft Web Studio to develop your own applications.
Conforms to CAT II international safety class
The 2638A is a general purpose portable data acquisition system that meets the IEC Class II safety level. Instruments that meet the Class II safety level are able to ensure the safety of the instrument and the operator during all types of industrial measurements. Other data collectors that do not clearly identify the safety level of the measurement are required to first verify that the safety level is met before making measurements in the industrial field. Fluke takes the safety of user measurements seriously.
data security
If the 2638A is used in an industrial industry that is governed by a variety of codes or protocols, you will appreciate the data security feature option in the 2638A setup menu. With two levels of administration (Administrator/Authorized User), the system allows the administrator to designate up to five authorized users. The system can add an authentication record to any action that records data. The setup file as well as the data file contains the identity ID of the authorized user as well as a timestamp. The general user of the instrument (GUEST) is only able to test with existing setup files and cannot change any of the test setup and test data files, which are marked with the non-retroactive "GUEST" logo.
calibrations
The 2638A is supplied with test reports for all key calibration points. Certified calibration certificates for 17025 compliance can also be purchased at the time of order.
The calibration menu can be accessed from the front panel of the 2638A, which is the only function that requires a password for access. The 2638A can be calibrated either manually by following the internal menus, or fully automatically using Fluke's MET/CAL calibration software.
Relay Count Counter
High performance reed relays ensure the 2638A's excellent isolation performance and accuracy. The performance of these switches, as they are used, degrades over time, and the 2638A's internal counter keeps track of the number of times each relay has been used, helping the user to anticipate when the relay board needs to be replaced.
