Chroma 6310A series programmable DC electronic loads are mainly used in multiple or single output AC/DC power supply, multiple or single DC/DC output converter, charger and power electronic components performance testing, for engineers in the design of R & D, production line testing and quality assurance product testing operations to provide fast and effective testing solutions. 6310A series adopts modular design, users can put the optional modules of different load power into the system host frame through the front control panel keyboard, RS232, USB and GPIB standard interface to control the system. The 6310A series has a modularized design, which allows users to put optional modules with different load powers into the system main frame and control them through the keyboard, RS232, USB and GPIB standard interfaces on the front control panel.
The 6310A series of electronic loads currently offers 12 load modules with power ranging from 20W to 1200W, current up to 240A, and voltage measurement from 0.5mV to 600V. Each module adopts an isolation and ground float connection to avoid short circuit loops, and each load module has two-stage current and voltage measurement profiles, and the master/slave interface is designed to synchronize the execution of multiple electronic load modules. The load can be operated in constant current, constant voltage, constant power and constant resistance modes.
The 6310A series can simulate various dynamic load states. Users can edit the load waveforms by editing parameters such as load voltage, load current, load rise/fall rate, current alignment, and duration, etc. Up to 100 sets of test parameters and states can be stored, and the system can be called out from the storage unit EEPROM at any time according to the demand of automatic testing.
Each load module in the 6310A series utilizes a multi-segment 16-bit high precision voltage and current measurement circuit, allowing the user to measure and adjust the on-line voltage or simulate a short-circuit test through the easy-to-operate keypad on the front control panel. In addition, the 6310A series is designed for automated production lines with optional remote control.
The 6310A series has a self-diagnostic system designed to maintain the daily use of the instrument by itself. The 6310A series also has over-power, over-current, over-temperature protection and over-voltage, positive and negative reverse alarm functions, which can greatly improve product reliability, and it is a product that can be trusted for engineering testing and automatic test system integration.
Load Simulation Applications
The 6310A load module can be operated in constant current, constant voltage, constant power, and constant resistance modes to meet a variety of R&D and production test applications. For example, the load module can be set in constant voltage mode to easily simulate battery charge/discharge test applications.

Each load module is designed with a current dead-reckoning feedback loop and high precision load control with all power MOSFETs connected in parallel, with a load current drift of no more than 0.1% + (0.1%x full scale). Due to the use of the current advanced FET technology, the impedance at the input can be reduced to a very low level, which provides The 63123A can provide very high load current even at very low input voltage of the load module. For example, the 63123A can provide a load current of 70A at an input voltage of 0.6V. Ideal for testing low voltage power supplies up to 3.3V.
The 6310A load module utilizes the isolation function of the opto-coupler to make each load module completely independent of each other. Users can use the 6310A master-slave control function to control these multiple load modules that are independent of each other to test multi-output power supplies or high-power power supplies.
Dynamic Load and Control
Modern electronic equipment operates with high speed adjustment rates, so power supply equipment must also have high transient and dynamic response characteristics, in order to meet the needs of these test applications, the 6310A provides high speed programmable dynamic load characteristics simulation, the following figure illustrates the programmable parameters of the 6310A.

Because the load change rate is programmable, the requirement to simulate instantaneous changes in the load is made possible in practical applications. the 6310A internal waveform generator can produce a maximum load change rate of 10A/μs, and high-speed dynamic load simulation up to 20 kHz. because of the remote load detection control loop, it ensures that the load is in a continuously varying waveform that minimizes distortion.

Parallel load module can increase the load power to meet the needs of users in high power test applications, users can parallel 6310A series of two or more modules to achieve the test requirements, 6314A / 6312A main control module unit are equipped with standard RS-232 control interface and optional GPIB, USB control interface, in the application of automated test systems, the user In the automatic test system application environment, users can use these control interfaces to transmit data and control the load module test.
Effective Measurement
Each 6310A series load module is equipped with a 16-bit precision A/D converter, measuring voltage with an accuracy of up to 0.025%+ (0.015%x full scale)*. In addition to voltage and current measurement, the 6310A also provides power measurement, with which users can save a lot of time in power calculation. Due to the built-in load current detection feedback loop, the accuracy of current measurement can reach 0.04%+(0.04%x full scale)*. In addition, it can also simulate short-circuit testing. All measurement circuits are designed with negative feedback amplifiers to eliminate errors caused by voltage drop during the measurement process, allowing the user to select the voltage and current test levels according to the actual test conditions.

Automatic and fast overcurrent protection (OCP) test
Today's switching power supplies all mention the OCP function, which requires additional testing on the production line. The new 6310A series also adds the OCP test function to provide users with an easy and fast test solution.
Users can select the channel they want to perform OCP test on the external frame, and set the parameters of initial current, cutoff current, step current, and duration of each step through the built-in OCP program to perform the test. The 6310A series can automatically capture the OCP points, and this automatic and fast function saves users a lot of time in design verification and production line system verification.

time measurement function
The 6310A series includes a unique time measurement feature designed to measure from 1 ms to 86,400 seconds. This accurate time measurement feature can be used for battery discharge testing and other similar applications. Users are required to set the termination voltage and stopping time during the battery discharge test.
For example, when the Load ON button is pressed, the 6310A's internal timer will automatically start counting until the battery voltage drops to the set termination voltage, then the timer will stop counting, as shown below.

Digital I/O Control
