LAN × VMCB (Virtual Multi-Channel Bus) function is standard to support network-based remote control and monitoring.
The PWX series comes standard with LAN, USB, and RS232C as communication interfaces. In addition, the VMCB (Virtual Multi-Channel Bus) function, which allows multiple PWX series to be managed in a virtual workgroup, can be used at the same time.※2In addition to 1 to N, the PWX system can efficiently perform not only 1 to N, but also N to M and large-scale network-type remote control and monitoring. In particular, LAN can be used for LXI (LAN eXtention for Instrumentation) to control and monitor power supplies by accessing a web server embedded in the PWX system using a web browser on a personal computer, smartphone, or tablet PC. In addition, by using the SD013-PWX (Wavy for PWX), an alternative timing creation software, it is possible not only to designate channels (individually) to set up the PWX series connected to the VMCB, but also to perform batch control using the global command.※3. Simultaneous output ON/OFF switching of multiple devices, as well as output voltage and current value operations are possible.

Example of a basic structure consisting of a LAN interface and a VMCB
Connect the PC and PWX series to the LAN using a hub, and set up the PWX series for which the hypothetical workgroup is set up as shown in the figure below. Also, set the number of hypothetical workgroups Max to 255, and the Max number of units per workgroup is 31, and the models within the workgroups do not need to be uniform.

Additional communication monitoring function
Configured to monitor communication. For example, when the LAN cable is disconnected and the controlled device is not recognized within a set period of time, a communication alarm occurs (the alarm lamp lights up), at which time the output of the device automatically stops. This prevents mis-work without monitoring and improves the trustworthiness of the system.

About security on LAN connections
For the embedded WEB server, access restriction can be set by setting a password. Also, for control using VXI-11/HiSLIP/SCPI-RAW, host access restriction by IP address can be set. Access can be prevented from terminals from unregistered (Max. 4 can be registered) hosts.
LAN communication interface
The control via LAN communication interface is characterized by the ability to control several devices quickly, and the theoretical number of maxes that can be controlled is about 4.2 billion. (Max communication speed varies depending on the number of connected devices.) In addition, it is one of the features that enables the mixing of controllers (controllers) and controlled parties as a standard, so that it can be used for a variety of purposes. In addition, a computer system using Apple Bonjour can be accessed by using a host name instead of an IP address.

USB communication interface
Automatic identification by the Plug & Play system frees the user from the complex setting operations previously associated with digital control, and can be said to be suitable for 1:1 control. The standard number of Max connected devices is 127. In addition, the PWX series realizes a communication speed of 12Mbps (Full Speed) in accordance with the USB 2.0 standard.

RS232C communication interface
The PWX series is also equipped with an RS232C interface. It can be used for communication with personal computers, programmable devices, etc. The interface shape is RJ45, so please purchase the D-sub 9P-RJ45 conversion cable (RD-8P/9P) separately for use.

In addition, the resistance value can be set via the configuration settings of the unit and the communication interface (LAN/USB/RS232C).
