How does a vector network analyzer work?

common problems 9100

A network analyzer consists of a signal source and a receiver. The receiver will detect changes in the output signal of the device (or network) and then compare it to the source signal fed into the device. To evaluate the effect of the device on current and voltage, the VNA measures the resulting amplitude and phase response. This results in transmission and reflection measurements, impedance, and s-parameters from which test engineers can characterize their device under test.

  • How to use an arbitrary waveform generator?

    971

Using an arbitrary waveform generator, test engineers can verify the design of a circuit in just a few steps: (1) activate the output control; (2) select the waveform to be generated; (3) connect the output to the device under test; and (4) verify the performance of the device under test using an oscilloscope. The following is an example of the design of the output control circuit.

  • What is alternating current (AC)?

    885

Alternating current (AC) is a type of electric current whose polarity reverses periodically and whose amplitude varies continuously over time. AC power is often used in businesses and homes because it is cheaper and more efficient to generate and transmit than direct current (DC) power. During transmission, a transformer can reduce power loss by increasing or decreasing the voltage of the AC line. Alternating current (AC) is a form of household electricity -...

  • How do I measure the frequency?

    703

How to measure frequency? Measurable Devices, Measurement Methods, and Precautions In everyday life, many people say they don't know much about the frequencies of electrical appliances. However, some electrical appliances have specific compatible frequencies, and using electricity at a frequency that is not compatible with the product may lead to malfunctions, fires, and other risks. In addition, in industrial equipment, there are electrical designed to operate at fixed or variable frequencies...
