Increase throughput through decomposition
The 8 Series achieves an affordable, adaptable and scalable solution by leveraging the separation of acquisition hardware from measurement and analysis. Data is transferred from the instrument to the analysis platform via high-speed Ethernet, limiting oscilloscope downtime and maximizing return on investment.
Enhanced Analysis with TSOVu
TSOVu is an advanced software platform that runs independently of the oscilloscope host and allows real-time processing and post-processing of acquired data.TSOVu provides efficient analysis of optical signals, including support for complex measurements such as eye diagrams and TDECQ.
- Programming interface commands are available for automation
- Parallel channel acquisition
- Intuitive and easy to use
Save time, space and money through modular design
Optimize test setups with the 8 Series' compact form factor and user-pluggable modules to quickly adapt to workflow changes and accommodate next-generation technologies. The smaller form factor of the 8 Series instruments, driven by higher density equipment, significantly reduces the overall production footprint, and the TSO820 sampling oscilloscope mainframe features code acquisition that is up to eight times faster than its predecessor, resulting in increased test throughput.
- 3U high, half rack width
- Expandable number of channels
- Up to 4 optical channels per system
High Performance Hardware
Confidence in device measurements starts with the 8 Series' special hardware platform for accurate, repeatable and reliable measurements. With its high-sensitivity, low-noise design, the 8 Series optical interface modules are ideally suited for singlemode and multimode testing, especially on low-power signals.
New features enabled in May 2022 software release
New Math Engine
- Standard support for data modifiers such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Performs complex operations such as waveform resampling, stacking to create eye diagrams, and FFE configuration and equalization.
- Input sources for math expressions include real-time channels (streaming from the TSO820), saved reference data, and other math sources
- Mathematical sources are fully supported by existing analysis tools (e.g., measurements, histograms, scaling, etc.)
New user-defined bandwidth
- See signals in a whole new way with the user-defined bandwidth configurations available in BWE!
- Series 8 optical modules support bandwidths between 7.5 GHz and 35.0 GHz, adjustable in 0.0001 GHz increments
Higher flexibility
- Additional support for more optical standards
- Improved equilibrium and configuration in math
Simplifying Optical Interface Testing: 8 Series Optical Interface Clock Recovery
The TCR801 Optical Interface Clock Recovery is the perfect complement to the 8 Series of sampling oscilloscopes designed to support the growing number of optical interface standards. Part of the 8 Series, this instrument simplifies optical interface testing by efficiently recovering the clock on high-speed optical signals.
