19032 and Chroma's other safety testers have the same Flashover detection function, Flashover is an electrical discharge inside or on the surface of an insulating material due to a high electric field, where the object to be tested loses its original insulating properties and forms a transient or discontinuous discharge, resulting in carbonization of the conductive paths or product damage. If the leakage current is the only judgment, it is impossible to detect defects, and must be determined by the rate of change of the test voltage or leakage current to detect defects. Therefore, Flashover detection is one of the indispensable inspection items for high voltage testing.

OSC function is to detect whether there is an open circuit (poor contact) or short circuit (short circuit of the object to be tested) during the test process. If an open circuit occurs during the test process, it will lead to the misjudgment of defective products as good products; if a short circuit occurs, it can be known and screened in advance, reducing the damage to fixtures and equipment and saving test costs.

Generally speaking, voltage withstand test products are capacitive (Cx), which may range from tens of pF to several μF under normal conditions. Once a connection is broken, a small capacitance will be formed at the interface of the broken circuit (Cc in Fig. 2), generally less than 10pF, and the overall capacitance will be much lower than the normal product phenomenon. When the object to be measured is short-circuited or close to being short-circuited, the capacitance will be much higher than normal. Therefore, short-circuit problems can be determined by utilizing the upper and lower limit values of capacitance change.
